Close Brothers came to ChargedEV for an EV charging solution for their sites across the UK, and also to provide Electric Vehicle Chargers for their staff, fleet and customers at home. ChargedEV have installed both Pedestals, Dual Wallmounted Units and single sockets at sites including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Ilkeston, Bournemouth and more.
ChargedEV approached Auto Windscreens after being made aware they were looking to improve their Green Credentials, and offered an EV charging solution that we felt would work effectively across their expanding fitting hub network. The charge points will be available for customer use and support our plans to introduce more electric and hybrid vehicles to our fleet, reducing our carbon footprint.
Control Point requested a solution which allowed them to be on an open EV network and to offer fast charging to their staff, visitors and the public. After speaking in depth with the client we decided that two 22kW Pedestals would be the most effective, future proof solution for them. It was also decided that the CYC network would be the perfect solution for their requirements. ChargedEV worked closely with the client and their facilities team when it came to the installation. After the complex installation had been completed, the chargers were commissioned and customer was set up on the network.
“Excellent fitting at home property with a post fitted near where I park my car. Good connection and easy to use.
Good fitting at work property – secured with a card system. We now have capacity for more plug in hybrids or electric cars as we encourage our CO2 reduction programme for company cars.”
“I first became aware of ChargedEV after they were recommended on a couple of Facebook groups that I belong to: “Kia Soul EV UK” and “UK Nissan Leaf Owners Group”. My initial contact with ChargedEV was by email and phone when we discussed installing a charge point at my business premises. Once I’d sent back photos of the proposed location for the point, how it might be installed and our consumer unit it was initially decided that the current draw would be too great on our limited 100 amp supply. However following a telephone discussion to check these findings ChargedEV offered to send an engineer to visit the site at no upfront cost to myself.
Once on site the engineer was able to more accurately assess the current draw of our existing units (refrigeration, lighting, air conditioning and computers) and after a lot of calculations we decided that there was enough headroom to proceed with the installation of a 7kw charge point. This was duly scheduled and I was very pleased to see that the same engineer who had surveyed the site then turned up to do the install, meaning he knew where everything was located and what our requirements were. Too many companies send one person out to survey the job and then another to do the work.
The final install was completed in a timely fashion and in a neat and tidy manner with care given to work with myself and my staff when it came to turning off the supply in order to make a safe electrical connection.
I am very pleased with how everything was handled and since then the charge point has been used regularly by my Kia Soul EV as I am unable to charge at home. It has also been a talking point in my local community and may have helped persuade a few people about the merits of driving an EV!”
