Tusker Case Study
We upgraded Tusker’s head office in Watford to enable hassle-free charging for their staff and visitors.
The Client - Tusker
Tusker, a carbon neutral, award winning car scheme provider needed 12 chargers upgraded at their head office in Watford to enable hassle free and reliable charging.
Tusker’s goal was to provide EV charging to their team members and visitors with the need for a fast, reliable solution. They were looking to upgrade their current infrastructure, both with it’s power and usage control with the back office system. This needed to be done with as little disruption as possible.
*Figures as of February 2024
The Requirement
Tusker required, for the use by their staff and visitors, replacement of 12 existing 7-22kW EV chargers coupled with an adequate back office management system.
Although there was infrastructure in place, this was installed to prior regulations. This meant we needed to install to Amendment 2. It was also not OCPP compliant for their chargepoint management system needs, as well as not adequate for the future proof solution that Tusker required.
This meant that we had to remove the existing infrastructure, reverse the original groundworks before we could start a brand new installation.
Alongside this, Tusker’s car park was a through access for other companies in their business estate, so coordination with the car park owner was required to ensure there was minimum disruption.
The Solution
Brand new, faster chargers moving from 7kW to 22kW with a Chargeasy back-end solution to enable Tusker to provide different tariff rates to electric vehicle drivers. This enabled Tusker to identify who was charging and when. With a simple QR code to scan on the charger; EV drivers are able to park, scan the app, plug in and charge with peace of mind and the ability to monitor throughout the day.
This was applied to all 12 22kW Easee chargers assigned to 12 different parking bays.
Tusker’s solution, as of February 2024, has delivered over 4,100 charging sessions for over 80 unique drivers.
Utilising this infrastructure, and managing it through Chargeasy, they have delivered over 107MWh of energy; charging up over 311,600 electric miles.
Kim Gardiner, Office Manager said:
“ChargedEV recently supplied and installed 6 double, fast, 22kW chargers for our offices in Watford to replace the 7kW ones we had previously so we could charge 12 cars at once. We have a number of drivers who rely on our chargers and so it was important that we had a system that was reliable and effective.
ChargedEV managed the whole process from start to finish, from a quick and efficient quote, to installation and commissioning from engineers who were friendly, well-organised and tidy. Ricky, our contact, was always on hand to answer any queries throughout the entire process and we now have posts and barriers which are branded and which look great.
Feedback from our EV drivers has been really positive with the process much easier and quicker to do than before.”
